Denise Johnson

Director/Choreographer/Performer/Educator
Denise Johnson is a professional musical theatre performer/director/choreographer and educator. She is an active member of the New York theatre community having last been seen in The Scarlet Pimpernel with Tony Yazbeck and Laura Osnes at Lincoln Center. She has also been seen in the 25th Anniversary production of Crazy For You, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman; and Jason Robert Brown’s Parade, with Jeremy Jordan and Laura Benanti. Denise has worked extensively in New York City and around the country at various theatres including The Public Theatre, Second Stage Theatre, City Center Encores!, York Theatre Company, Paper Mill Playhouse, North Carolina Theatre, Signature Theatre, Flat Rock Playhouse, Sacramento Music Circus, Houston TUTS and the St. Louis MUNY, among others. She also loves developing new works and has been involved in many Broadway shows during their development. Known as a top adjudicator, choreographer and show designer for competitive show choirs, she was involved in the creation of the popular TV show GLEE. Denise is an active member of SETC's Musical Theatre Committee and is passionate about arts education. She has been a teaching guest artist in Musical Theatre at many colleges and universities around the country including Elon University, Millikin University, University of Nebraska, University of Wisconsin, and Vandercook College of Music among many others.
