Ball State University
Associate Professor
Kathryn Rohe is currently teaching at Ball State University, after a 16-year professional career in New York. While in NYC, she designed extensively for the award-winning off-Broadway theatre company Transport Group. Seven of her shows with TG were world premieres, including "And Away We Go" with Terrence McNally, and "Queen of the Mist" with Michael John LaChiusa. Five of her TG productions were filmed for preservation by the New York Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center. In addition to designing, she earned a living as a dresser on "The Lion King", and as a day-worker on other Broadway shows, most extensively "Mamma Mia". With her return to academia last year, Kathryn is teaching at her third university; she also taught at Denison University, and the University of Virginia, having earned tenure there in 1998. She is a proud member of United Scenic Artists, and was a member of the Theatrical Wardrobe Union for 15 years.
