Tom Burch

Charlotte, NC
Assistant Professor of Scenic Design, UNC Charlotte
Tom is a professional scenic designer and educator based in Charlotte, NC. He began his career in Chicago with credits at many major companies there including The Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare, Court, Northlight and many others. Regional credits include off-Broadway, Berkeley Rep, American Rep, Arizona Theatre Co, Pasadena Playhouse, Actors Theatre Louisville, Cleveland Play House, and several others. He's received 5 Jeff Award (Chicago) nominations, including one win) for his design work. Puppetry has been a side-passion for years and most recently manifested in designing puppets and directing THE LONG CHRISTMAS RIDE HOME at UNC Charlotte, where he is on faculty. Upcoming design work includes shows at Cape Fear Regional Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Festival and a puppetry commission from Children's Theatre of Charlotte.
